Blog on Lakers' Artest referenced by Menninger...
Updated: Friday Jul 2, 2010 @ 3:39 PM

A special thanks to the Menninger Clinic ("a world leader in psychiatric treatment, research and education”) for referencing a blog entry I posted about LA Laker' Ron Artest. After winning game 7 of the NBA finals, Artest thanked a number of people, including his psychiatrist. You can watch the post-game interview and read about the reactions in my entry: http://allworldperformance.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/lakers-ron-artest-his-psychiatrist-reaction-an-insiders-perspective

You can read the Menninger Clinic blog entry here: http://saynotostigma.com/2010/06/stigma-cant-stop-ron-artest/

Thank you KD for the pre-World Championship favor
Updated: Saturday Aug 15, 2009 @ 4:22 PM

A special thank you to Khadevis Robinson (KD), 8x US National Champion & 2004 Olympic Track Team member, for taking the time to engage my sport psychology class via a webconference last Wednesday. The Master's in Sports Science & Rehabilitation students were able to ask him questions about physical and mental preperations, injury, support staff, and more. We are especially thankful that KD made himself available just 2 weeks before his first 800m heat at the World Championships in Berlin. Checkout his inspiring media interviews at www.khadevis.com!

Workshop accepted for annual conference...
Updated: Saturday Aug 15, 2009 @ 4:20 PM

Joe is grateful to have his professional practice and ethics workshop accepted for presentation at the 2009 Annual Conference of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. He will be facilitating a workshop entitled, 'I was an athlete, too': Sport psychologist self-disclosure in the service of the therapeutic relationship. The discussion will focus on when it may be appropriate and ethically sound for a sport psychology professional to discuss her or his athletic career (or life in general) with a client. Important considerations will include AASP and APA Ethical Guidelines and the question, "Whose needs are being served, the sport psychology professional's or the client's?"
